Scope

Research topics

We welcome theory, simulation, experiments, and applications. The common thread should be interaction across domains, not only work inside a single component.

Integration and Control

  • System integration and interoperability
  • Distributed control and networks
  • Real-time coordination
  • Fault-tolerant system design
  • Sensor fusion and data integration
  • Machine learning for integration

Robotics and Autonomy

  • Robotics in complex environments
  • Cyber-physical systems and IoT
  • Autonomous systems and AI
  • Swarm intelligence
  • Digital twins
  • Cross-platform deployment

Design and Applications

  • Modeling, simulation and design
  • Human-machine interfaces
  • Energy management
  • Biomechanical and bio-hybrid systems
  • Medical mechatronics
  • Standardization and emerging technologies
  • Engineering education and IFToMM pedagogy
Submission workflow

Prepare your contribution

The review starts with a short contribution so the committee can check scope and fit before inviting selected authors to prepare a full paper.

2. After review

Authors selected for oral presentation will be asked for a full paper. Poster authors will prepare a poster for the on-site session.

Publication opportunities

Springer Mechanisms and Machine Science

HMDS 2027 full-paper proceedings will be published in Springer's Mechanisms and Machine Science series — a Scopus- and Ei-Compendex-listed book series. Published chapters receive a DOI, and volumes carry an ISBN. Publication is free of charge for authors.

Full papers must be minimum 6 pages (8–10 pages recommended; longer papers welcome). Source files (LaTeX or Word) are required for final submission. Use the official Springer templates available in the Submission section above.

Poster contributions

Accepted posters will be presented during the symposium poster session. Proceedings details will be sent with acceptance decisions.
